Rapid Interactive Design

One of the keys to creating highly usable products is rapid iterative design. This can be accomplished with either a low fidelity or high fidelity prototype. During a usability test, representatives that fit your demographic profile such as consumers, small business owners, employees, etc.-perform the most common tasks the product will require. From this encounter, the prototype is adapted to reflect any issues that arise. This cycle can be accomplished very rapidly with several iterations occurring in a week. A usable design can be rapidly delivered to your development team.

The Sooner the Better

Usability Engineering is most effective when incorporated early in the development process. Shaping the functionality of your product to meet the needs of your customers and employees at this stage ensures that usability is built in from the beginning, and reduces overall development costs. And too, this reduces the number of changes that need to be made later in development. Later stage Usability is important as well, enabling you to fine-tune your product to your customers and make it easier to use.
